DRIVERS
A Racing Driver is responsible for delivering competitive on-track performance while representing the team professionally both on and off the circuit. Drivers work closely with engineers to optimise vehicle performance, provide detailed technical feedback, and execute race strategy under high-pressure conditions. This role demands elite physical fitness, mental resilience, technical understanding, and media professionalism. The level of licence and qualification required to compete varies very much on the championship and level they enter in.
DRIVER ROLES
Deliver maximum performance during practice, qualifying, and race sessions
Execute race strategy as agreed with engineers and team management
Manage tyre, fuel, and energy systems efficiently
Maintain consistency, pace, and situational awareness in race conditions
Provide structured feedback to engineers to support car development
Participate in simulator sessions and test programmes
Analyse telemetry and performance data
Contribute to setup optimisation
Adhere strictly to sporting and technical regulations
Maintain high safety standards at all times
Participate in drivers’ briefings and regulatory meetings
Represent the team in media interviews and press conferences
Participate in sponsor activations and hospitality events
Maintain professional public image aligned with team values
Support digital and social media initiatives where required
Maintain elite physical conditioning
Undertake mental performance training
Prepare thoroughly for circuits and race conditions
Travel and compete across demanding international schedules
Conduct structured simulator sessions aligned with development programmes
Evaluate car setup changes, aerodynamic upgrades, and performance configurations
Execute tyre, fuel, and race strategy simulations
Perform correlation testing between simulator and track data
Provide precise, structured feedback to engineering teams
Analyse telemetry and vehicle performance metrics
Contribute to vehicle dynamics understanding
Support optimisation of car balance and drivability
Prepare drivers for upcoming circuits through virtual runs
Validate setup baselines prior to race weekends
Simulate changing weather and track evolution scenarios
Support strategy modelling exercises
Assist in improving simulator accuracy and modelling fidelity
Work with software engineers and performance analysts
Participate in development of driver-in-loop simulation tools
Contribute to post-event debrief analysis
Deploy immediately upon instruction from Race Control
Control field pace safely and consistently
Manage pack compression and maintain safe intervals
Lead formation laps and rolling starts (where applicable)
Assess track conditions while circulating
Support marshals and recovery teams by controlling traffic flow
Maintain awareness of debris, weather changes, and hazards
Communicate real-time feedback to Race Control
Coordinate timing and positioning for safe race restarts
Control pace leading up to green flag conditions
Ensure orderly return to racing conditions
Conduct pre-session vehicle checks
Ensure safety car is fully prepared for deployment
Work with technical crew to maintain optimal performance
Maintain familiarity with circuit layouts and escape routes
Represent championship and governing body with professionalism
Participate in drivers’ briefings where required
Maintain composure under global broadcast and media scrutiny
Analyse driving technique using telemetry and video data
Provide structured feedback on braking, cornering, race craft, and tyre management
Develop individual performance improvement plans
Support qualifying and race preparation strategies
Conduct simulator coaching sessions
Assist with test day preparation and debriefs
Work with engineers to align setup changes with driver feedback
Support correlation between simulator and track performance
Enhance decision-making under pressure
Develop race strategy awareness and situational judgement
Support pre-race mental preparation routines
Assist drivers with resilience and focus management
Interpret telemetry and performance metrics
Benchmark against teammates and competitors

Participate in hearings with drivers and team representatives
Contribute to penalty decisions and formal rulings
Assist in applying sporting regulations consistently
Offer practical interpretation of racing incidents
Support transparent and defensible decision-making
Maintain impartiality regardless of team or championship affiliations
Work collaboratively with Chief Steward and fellow Stewards
Contribute to pre-event and post-event briefings
Support alignment in stewarding standards across the championship
Maintain strict confidentiality
Uphold integrity and impartial governance
Communicate decisions clearly and professionally
Operate effectively under public and media scrutiny
Represent the team at race weekends, corporate events, and sponsor activations
Maintain consistent alignment with brand values and messaging
Deliver keynote speeches, Q&A sessions, and panel appearances
Support product launches and promotional campaigns
Host sponsor guests during race weekends and hospitality events
Participate in partner marketing initiatives and campaigns
Strengthen long-term commercial relationships
Provide authentic storytelling aligned with performance success
Participate in media interviews and press activities
Support broadcast features and promotional content
Contribute to social media engagement initiatives
Maintain a professional public presence
Attend fan events, autograph sessions, and community programmes
Promote grassroots motorsport initiatives
