PITLANE DEVELOPMENT ANNOUNCE REUBEN LOWE AS CITYCAR CUP DRIVER AHEAD OF THE 2026 SEASON

Pitlane Development is proud to announce that Reuben Lowe will join the team to compete in the 2026 BRSCC CityCar Cup Championship, marking the start of an exciting new chapter in the young driver and Pitlane Developments motorsport journey.

Reuben’s passion for motorsport began at an early age, with his local circuit Brands Hatch serving as the backdrop to his formative racing experiences. Under the guidance of BTCC race winner Charles Rainford, Reuben completed tracks days that helped him develop his technical understanding and on-track confidence. In 2024, Reuben took part in some rounds of a junior-level Mazda MX-5 Championship, where he began to refine his racing craft and establish a competitive mindset. The experience provided valuable lessons in car control, consistency and competition, all of which he now aims to build upon as he takes on his first full Championship campaign.

In 2026, Reuben will make his debut in a full-season championship, joining the BRSCC CityCar Cup’s Student Motorsport grid with the prestigious Pitlane Development team. Reflecting on this milestone, Reuben shared his excitement for the season ahead:

In 2026, Reuben will make his debut in a full-season championship, joining the BRSCC CityCar Cup’s Student Motorsport grid with the prestigious Pitlane Development team. Reflecting on this milestone, Reuben shared his excitement for the season ahead:

“I am looking forward to learning the ‘championship’ mentality, learning race-by-race and developing my skills, speed and the way I work with the team. My main goal for my first season is to get faster and more consistent in my racing, getting through the season with a visible increase in performance, creating a solid foundation to improve from in seasons to come.”

Following on from Reubens comments, Ollie had this to say:

Having Reuben onboard is going to be fantastic for the championship and for us. Our goal this season is to quickly establish ourselves within the championship and develop into one of the most established teams on the grid. As a private educational training provider we know there will be eyes on us and there will be an expectation for us to perform from the get go. We will rise to the challenge and with the student team we have assembled I’m confident that we will achieve these goals.

The CityCar Cup Championship has rapidly become one of the most accessible and competitive entry-level series in British Motorsport, offering close racing on multiple high profile race-tracks across the country: an ideal platform for emerging drivers to develop their race craft.

Reuben’s manager, Tom from P1 Productions, echoed the importance of the series as learning ground:

“It is a great entry-level series, and you learn the skills and racing, especially on a grid this big, it is just such a great opportunity. Wherever you are on the grid, you are in a battle, and for race craft it’s a huge benefit. The costs aren’t extortionate so it’s reasonable, if you have a crash you could get back on the road and carry on. You’ve got a consistency that you can rely on to be there every round.”

Reuben added;

“The championship will be a great way to learn new skills, get some really good track time and is a very positive stepping-stone moving forwards with my ambitions of climbing up the motorsport ladder.”

When asked about why they chose to race for Pitlane Development, Tom stressed that with a team renowned for its professionalism, consistency and commitment to nurturing new talent, it was a natural step for Reuben.

“Pitlane Development have a presence within the student motorsport paddock already. People have benefited from the Pitlane Development programmes, and to have such a professional name behind the team guarantees consistency. Wherever you turn, you will have a professionally presented car, well built, and your experience as well as your mechanics’ experience are vital in securing the fact that this is a very good team to go with.”

Both Reuben and Tom were keen to highlight the incredible growth and impact of Student Motorsport, which provides young engineers, mechanics and drivers with valuable real-world experience within motorsport. Tom had this to say:

“Student motorsport have done so much over the last four or five years. From what was six cars on the grid, they’re now hopefully next year looking at twenty cars on the grid. When you have a forty-five car grid, twenty cars being student motorsport cars is awesome. They are really allowing young people to be so involved trackside which is experience you never get in the workshop.”

He added:

“It’s not just the mechanics of the car, it’s the paddock etiquette, it’s how you present yourself, it’s everything you don’t learn in a regular classroom or workshop. It’s the way to do it, it really gets young people involved in actual experience at a race circuit.”

With the 2026 CityCar Cup Championship testing and training beginning to commence, Reuben Lowe and Pitlane Development are ready to take on a full season of racing, taking Reuben’s growth and learning to the next level. With a shared commitment to progress both on and off the track, we are ready to witness Rueben’s passion and professionalism as he enters this new chapter in his motorsport career.
