PITLANE DEVELOPMENT TO ENTER THE CITY CAR CUP CHAMPIONSHIP FOR THE 2026 SEASON
We are thrilled to announce that Pitlane Development will be entering into the City Car Cup Championship for the 2026 season. The team has acquired a Peugeot 107, which will be meticulously converted into a competition‑ready race car over the next few months in line with the championship’s regulations and ethos.
The vehicle will undergo a full motorsport transformation, including roll cage installation, suspension upgrades, brake enhancement, and race‑spec engine calibration, all overseen and executed by the student team under professional mentorship.
The race weekend crew will be made up of our trackside mentorship pass holders. Pitlane Development clients will be given responsibility for mechanical, electrical, and race‑operations tasks during the race weekends. As the season progresses the experienced professions will start to take a step back and allow the pass holders to take more control of race day activities. The mentorship covers working in a live pit environment, professional engineering workflows, data logging, and racing‑day decision making.
Statement From The Founder:
“We are absolutely delighted to join the City Car Cup Championship in 2026,” said Ollie Walsh, founder of Pitlane Development.
“This championship strikes the perfect balance between accessibility and engineering challenge. By building our own team and car we have full control of the fit and finish of the end product, ensuring a reliable platform for the student to learn from. We are creating opportunities for aspiring mechanics and engineers to gain practical, hands‑on experience in a professional motorsport environment. We specifically chose this championship because of its focus on close competition, engineering ingenuity, and its encouragement of student involvement. As an independent educational training provider we are driven by the challenge of competing wheel to wheel against some of the UKs most well regarded motorsport colleges and universities. We’re excited to push the boundaries of what our team can achieve and to share that journey with the next generation of motorsport talent.”

About Student Motorsport:
Student Motorsport is a UK-based educational initiative that bridges young people, students, educators, and professionals with real-world motorsport experience.
Student Motorsport allows school, college, and university teams to run a real race team using affordable city‑car platforms (e.g. Citroën C1, Peugeot 107, Toyota Aygo), competing in the BRSCC City Car Cup, alongside off-track awards (team structure, media, preparation, etc.) Participants gain hands-on motorsport skills, mentorship, networking with industry partners, and valuable career-oriented exposure in areas like team operations, engineering, media, and sponsorship
What To Expect In The 2026 Season:
Pitlane Development will contest the full 2026 City Car Cup calendar. We will also be attending a 1 off endurance race midway though the season.
The team will provide a stable platform for learning and personal development while encouraging peer collaboration among the broader Student Motorsport community. We aim to aid in the development of the championship by making any learnings or improvements open source to all other Student Teams.
Pitlane Development is also proud to introduce a premium paddock hospitality experience at all race events. Designed to provide a welcoming environment for our drivers, sponsors, supporters, students, and media, the hospitality suite will feature a relaxed viewing area, real-time data displays, guided garage tours, and meet-and-greet sessions with the team. With an emphasis on accessibility, education, and comfort, the Pitlane paddock space will reflect the team’s professional standards while remaining rooted in its student-led mission.
